Initiating the training events to build the capacity of MFIs within the Yemen Emergency Electricity Access Project

With support of the World Bank Group’s International Development Association (IDA), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is carrying out a capacity-building program for MFIs. The training is divided into two main topics: technical trainings and trainings in business development for the off-grid solar sector.

The training aims to develop the off-grid solar business for MFIs and their partners. It is noteworthy that ten trainings will be conducted until December 2019 in both Sana’a and Aden for MFIs and their partners.

UNOPS is quite careful to build the capacity of its local partners and provide substantive and technical support that assist them in the implementation of the Yemen Emergency Electricity Access Project YEEAP, where the emergency project is intended to improve access to electricity in rural and peri-urban areas of the country, and, as well, focuses on financing off-grid solar power systems by providing electricity supply to 200,000 households through MFIs.
