Conclusion of the third training course in business development for MFIs within the Yemen Emergency Electricity Access Project

With support of the World Bank Group’s International Development Association (IDA), UNOPS has carried out Phase III of training for MFIs in sales, after-sales services and inventory management.

The training aims to develop business for the off-grid solar energy sector for MFIs and their partners. It is noteworthy that this is the third training course conducted by UNOPS through contracting with a supporting institution, where two training courses in marketing were carried out in both Sana’a and Aden over the past two months. The number of participants in the three training courses amounted to 32 trainees (male and female) from MFIs and their partners.

UNOPS is quite careful to build the capacity of its local partners and provide substantive and technical support that assist them in the implementation of the project, where the emergency project is intended to improve access to electricity in rural and peri-urban areas of the country, and, as well, focuses on financing off-grid solar power systems by providing electricity supply to 200,000 households through MFIs.
