Conclusion of the of the third training course in the substantive and technical areas of off-grid small solar systems

With support of the World Bank Group’s International Development Association (IDA), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has carried out Phase III of training for MFIs on technical standards and technical training for the off-grid solar sector.

The training embraces three main topics: quality assessment for the independent solar power sector (off-grid), preparation and development of technical standards for the products and for solar energy sector services and practical training on technical standards. It is noteworthy that this is the third training course conducted by UNOPS through contracting with an implementing institution, while two training courses were carried out prior to it. The training courses were carried out in both Sana’a and Aden. The number of participants in the three training courses amounted to 58 trainees (male and female) from MFIs and their partners.

UNOPS is quite careful to build the capacity of its local partners and provide substantive and technical support that assist them in the implementation of the project, where the emergency project is intended to improve access to electricity in rural and peri-urban areas of the country, and, as well, focuses on financing off-grid solar power systems by providing electricity supply to 200,000 households through MFIs.
